ABOUT US

Hi. We are Gustavo and Dalila Faleiro and have been married for 7 years. In March of 2008 we were blessed with the arrival of Pedro Henrique, who has brought us so much joy and is a real demonstration of God’s love for the two of us.

We live in Paris, where we have the privilege to serve the Lord and His church  among the art community.

Our call into missions began separately over 10 years ago. Since 1996 the Lord has spoken to both of us individually about the missionary plans that He has prepared for our lives. He has done that through prayer, prophecy, sermons, and even through informal conversations.

Year after year the Lord has reminded both of us of His plans, not for one moment allowing us to forget them. As well as pastoring the Methodist Church in Botafogo (Rio de Janeiro - BR), I have also worked professionally in the music business since 1996, working as a freelance musician in numerous projects, shows, productions, and recordings. In 1998 I was invited to participate in a missionary project in Japan, where I ministered courses and workshops in churches and missionary projects throughout Japan for a month. It was at this moment that I understood the Lord’s plan for my life. I realized that as a musician, I would travel to other nations sharing His Good News using the gift He had blessed me with and in that way fulfill His plans for my life.

However, the calling was just beginning.

Dalila and I met in 1998 and since then God’s words and plans have been spoken to us as a couple simultaneously. So many things have happened throughout these years, always reaffirming this dream that has been in our hearts. One such event was a service that Dalila attended with her mother. A missionary was invited to share his testimony. At the end he challenged anyone who was willing to accept the Lord’s calling, even without knowing the specifics, to stand. Dalila stood at the moment and said to the Lord, “Here I am Lord; send me.”

When we got married, God blessed us with the means to buy an apartment in a nice neighbourhood in Rio de Janeiro. It was our dream apartment and as many people said “an apartment for the rest of our lives.” I will never forget the first day we set foot in our new apartment with so much joy and a feeling that this was such a huge gift from God. Right away we celebrated and commemorated His gift to us. But then God once again used my very wise wife to challenge our hearts. Boldly she said, “My love, this is a great gift from God, but we should not build our foundations in this material place. We should pitch our tent, enjoy and celebrate the good times we will share here, but we should always be ready to take our tent down when the Lord calls us to do so. We should not attach ourselves to this apartment.”

And so the Lord has continued to show us His plans, year after year, assuring us that we are fully living out Psalm 1: “He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither.”

We realize that the Lord has matured this plan in our hearts gradually so that our roots would be firmly planted and ready to grow. There are so many people who embark on missionary projects, without the necessary preparation or maturity. Tragically, that often results in them leaving the field early with a sense of frustration as to what was accomplished. It is clear to us that over these 10 years the Lord has day by day been nurturing and growing this spiritual calling in our lives, enabling us to better understand His plan even as He has been maturing us.

In February of 2006 we went to a church retreat during the Carnival period in Brazil. During this retreat the Lord used others in a supernatural way to speak to our hearts about His plan for our lives. We would need pages and pages to share with you in detail everything that happened to us at this retreat, but what we can tell you was that it was life changing. During a moment of praise and worship a friend of mine who is also a pastor and who knew nothing of our calling to be missionaries, was used greatly by God. Her exact words were, “as to the Lord’s calling for your lives, that He has been sharing with you for the past 10 years, the time is near for it to be completed.”

It was then that we decided to offer our lives to the Lord, placing everything into His hands.

The next day we heard about the missionary organization “The Mission Society.” We began to get involved through a partnership with the Brazilian Methodist Church and felt that this was part of God’s plan. Several months later, we were in training with The Mission Society when we discovered the project “La Fonderie.” We began to pray and talk with lots of people about the project and also to understand in more depth the focus of La Fonderie’s ministry.

After much prayer and the opportunity to spend a month in Paris observing up close what is happening there, we could see that La Fonderie was a project dedicated to honouring God, and that we shared the same vision. As I am a musician and work professionally in the music business, the passion in the hearts of the men and women working on this project was clear to me. With the vision of bringing together a church in this place, Dalila and I felt that we could be used to glorify God in the pastoring and the discipling of those involved.

There are many people who may question why we need to leave our country to share the Good News with others, when there are so many people here in Brazil in need. We believe that the Lord has a specific calling for every life and family and that throughout the world there are spiritual needs and people who are thirsty for the water of life.

We are certain that the Lord is calling us to be His instruments on this project and we count on your prayers and support for His purpose to be fulfilled.

In Christ,

Gustavo and Dalila Faleiro.
